thanks but no thanks

ONE MATCH USER says: Thanks for writing to me, but I have decided to take a break from dating for now.
I guess this is one of the canned answers that Match gives its users to use when they're not interested in someone. It's a great thing to get after a thoughtful email to someone you think you have a lot in common with and who might feel the same way about you. Maybe this is one of the fake profiles that are mentioned in the match.com lawsuit. I wonder if many other users have received similar emails.
It's also an interesting response when you see day after day that the "user" has been active in their Match.com account within the last 24 hours.

Actually, I think you should consider yourself lucky for getting a canned response. I've sent thoughtful, intelligent e-mails to about a dozen women on match. I haven't gotten a single reply of any kind.

I've talked to about ten people I know in my everyday life who have tried match. With the exception of an ex-girlfriend who found a nice guy their experiences have been negative. The guys have been all but ignored and the women have been hounded for sex.

Why am I wasting my time with this "service"?
